New to Blackjack?
Blackjack is a popular game of chance played in online and retail casinos worldwide. Each player is initially dealt two cards by the dealer, who also receives two cards – one face up (the upcard), one face down (the hole card). Each card has a value. Number cards (2-10) are worth their face value, while picture cards (J, Q and K) each count as 10. You can play an ace (A) as either 1 or 11. The aim is to score more than the dealer without busting (i.e., going over 21).
After being dealt your first two cards, you can choose to stand (take no more cards), hit (take one or more additional cards until you stand or bust) or double down (double your original bet and receive one more card). When your initial hand includes a pair of cards of the same rank (e.g. AA or 88), you can split them. This creates two new hands, both containing a card from your original pair.
What's Double Down After Split?
Double Down After Split can improve your position and increase your win potential by letting you split your initial pair and then double your bet on one or both resulting hands before receiving an additional card in each. Aside from giving you more gameplay options, Double Down After Split can boost your potential winnings, offering an increased RTP (return to player) of up to 99.59% in some variations when you combine it with basic strategy.
What’s basic strategy?
The house has a slight edge in blackjack, but you can improve your odds by making the statistically best moves. Basic strategy is all about knowing when to hit, stand, split or double down based on your hand and the dealer’s upcard. Using basic strategy with Double Down After Split maximises your chances of getting the best return. Refer to our handy guide while you play.
